The Parkinson’s Project Raises Funds and Awareness with Inaugural Event

On Friday, April 25, 2025, Joe and Courtney Holmes hosted The Parkinson’s Project Inaugural Annual fundraising event, where attendees learned more about the foundation’s mission and how they can contribute to this important cause. The event featured a Kentucky Derby theme, live music, derby-themed drinks and fare, a silent auction and opportunities to connect with others who share a passion for finding natural and alternative approaches to fighting Parkinson’s. Motivated by their personal experience with a diagnosis of young- onset Parkinson’s disease, the foundation aims to raise awareness and funds for research and support for holistic solutions for those affected by the disease.

“When I was diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 40, I didn’t see it as a punishment but rather a calling—an assignment I was meant to embrace. I just knew that this was the beginning of something greater,” said Joe Holmes, Founder of The Parkinson’s Project Foundation and a Parkinson’s Fighter. “I want this event to be educational but also inspirational and fun, providing those who attend with a more positive outlook on treatment options. When I was first diagnosed, there was nowhere to turn for the kind of information and support I needed—we had to piece everything together ourselves. That’s why we’re building a place where people can feel informed, encouraged, and supported.”

In addition to raising funds and advocating for research on natural and plant-based alternatives, The Parkinson’s Project Foundation will offer free consultations through Eleeo Health & Wellness and provide personalized supplement and plant-based medicine regimens for individuals battling Parkinson’s disease. Because this holistic approach is typically not covered by insurance, it can create a significant financial burden for those choosing this path. Our goal is to ease that burden. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or have been managing Parkinson’s for years—whether you’re pursuing a pharmaceutical-free approach or seeking to complement traditional treatments—the foundation is here to support you every step of the way.

“Life works in strange ways sometimes,” said Courtney Holmes, CEO and Founder of Eleeo Health & Wellness. “With over two decades of healthcare experience, including roles as a pediatric and adult oncology nurse, clinical educator and manager in pharma, and healthcare IT leader, I’ve gained invaluable insights that prepared me for Joe’s diagnosis and this cause. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those impacted by Parkinson’s disease.”

Joe and his wife, Courtney, founded The Parkinson’s Project Foundation and its sister company, Eleeo Health & Wellness, to bring hope, awareness, and education to individuals facing Parkinson’s and other chronic illnesses. Their mission is to provide resources, foster a supportive community, and empower individuals to take an active role in their healing journey. Through advocacy, events, and outreach, they are committed to shifting the narrative surrounding these conditions—showing others that while a diagnosis may change your life, it does not have to define it.
