The Return: A Caregiver’s Observation of the Healing Power of Ibogaine
By Courtney Holmes
As I sat on the plane with Joey, heading home to our girls, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the people we had just spent the last five days with. Three adults with young-onset Parkinson’s, and three caregivers — six strangers brought together not by chance, but by divine intervention. All of us in search of another way to heal. All of us unwilling to accept the status quo.
We will never be able to fully describe what happened in those few short days. But I can tell you this: God was there. I felt Him. Everyone felt Him.
As I watched each of the three patients come out of the medicine — Joe included — they were glowing. Not just a healthy glow, but something deeper. Something angelic. Their eyes, their smiles, their entire presence radiated peace. I could not stop staring. It touched my heart so deeply, because I knew from that moment forward, none of us would ever be the same.
This medicine is not to be entered into lightly. It takes preparation, trust, and a faith so deep that nothing can shake it. But our group? Cohort 6 was different. There was a feeling in the air that we were going to do something bigger than any one of us. And I think we all knew that before we ever met.
Joey and I came for healing — for him, for our family, and for the purpose that has been placed deep in our hearts. A purpose rooted in faith, in truth, and in a mission to help others find real healing too. The others came with their own missions of advocacy, hope, and transformation. And together? We are unstoppable.
In a sense, Ibogaine calls you. It reaches out in ways you cannot explain and lets you know: it’s time. I think of it more as a wise teacher — one that not only rewires the brain but brings forth stories and lessons long buried in your soul.
It teaches you who you are. Where you came from. How you got here. And most importantly, how to heal.
It opens you up and paves the way for your true purpose — something our ancient ancestors have known for thousands of years. There is nothing else on this planet that compares to the healing powers of this plant.
The healing was not just for those with Parkinson’s. It reached us too — the caregivers, the quiet warriors who have carried the weight, the fear, and the fight for far too long. It met me where I didn’t even know I was hurting. It softened what had hardened. It reminded me that I wasn’t just holding space for someone else’s healing — I needed it too.
I walked out a different person — rested, reflective, and at peace. Peace in the presence of my loving Father, knowing we are walking with Him and healing the way He always intended.
The other stories are not mine to share here, but they are coming. What I can say is this: the healing that took place was real. Profound. Sacred.
It is not a quick fix — and it is not supposed to be. If that is what you are looking for, then you may not yet understand what true healing really is.
This is healing of the mind, body, and soul. The kind that requires surrender — a willingness to unlearn everything we have been taught and step boldly into something ancient, holy, and true.
You have to face the hard truth: the system we were told to trust — the one we believed had the answers — is often the very thing keeping us sick. And the institutions built to protect us? Most of them are driven by profit, not healing.
But here is the good news: there is another way. And there are people — people like us — who are here to tell the truth, to do the work, and to lead others toward real healing without fear.
We are the six who will help carry this forward. United in spirit, anchored in purpose, and deeply moved by the brilliant, compassionate team we met at Ambio in Mexico. Their work has changed us. And we know this is only the beginning.
Change is coming.
Are you ready?
Because we are about to shake everything up.
This isn’t a place for fear.
This is a place for faith.
And if you are willing to listen…
We all have a story to tell.
To be continued…
